Furniture treasures are all around us. Beneath your aunt's old,
painted dresser is a gorgeous maple grain waiting to be uncovered.
That dark, dusty, table at the yard sale may appear tired, but a
closer look reveals that it's beautifully crafted and made of solid
oak. With the right care this could be a steal!
Formby's® Funiture Treasures Revealed
tells 4 stories of little treasures that everyday people have discovered
for themselves. Each story features a very different piece, but
there is one common link
they have all been restored to their
origianal beauty with Formby's®.
Finders
Keepers
When
a coworker offered to give away this charming cocktail table, it
was easy to say yes. A close examination of the table reveals it
to be vintage 1920's and made of Honduran Mahogany. Even though
the finish was slightly nicked and dull, it was easy to imagine
its original beauty. Formby's®
Face Lift Kit is all that was needed to bring back this
table's original charm.
First, Formby's®Cleansing Liquid was
applied all over with a pad, immediately followed by an application
of Formby's® Buffing Cream to make the
small scratches and water ring disappear. Finally, Formby's®
Face Lift Finish was rubbed on the wood to give it warm
luster and durable protection.

Pleased to Be Seated
These chairs were a hand-me-down from Grandma.
Years of wear and storage in the garage had taken their toll, dulling
and dirtying the finish. The finish didn't need to be removed, but
just cleaning would not be quite enough. Formby's®offered
the perfect solution
Furniture
Face Lift Kit. The quick and easy 3-step process brought
the chairs' tired old finish back to life. New fabric was applied
to the seats making the chairs as good as new.
Memories Restored
This sturdy wooden chest was once the storage place for
a boy's treasures, (baseball cards, Boy Scout medals, collector
stamps). As the years went by and the boy grew older, his interests
changed. Over this time, the chest received a shabby paint job,
and was eventually neglected to the attic to collect dust.
Now
fully-grown and with a son of his own, he rediscovered the forgotten
chest on a weekend of cleaning. The chest would be a wonderful place
for his own son to store a boy's little treasures, but that dull
old paint job had to go.
Luckily the job was easier than it looked, thanks to Formby's®
Paint & Poly Remover. The first step was to lay a thick
coat of Paint and Poly
Remover. After allowing it to penetrate for 15 - 20 minutes,
the softened paint was easily lifted off with a non-scratching plastic
scraper.
While the stripped surface was still damp, Formby's®
Paint & Poly Remover Wash was applied with a Formby's®
Steel Wool Refinishing Pad to clean away the remaining paint
and residue. After letting the wood dry overnight, three coats of
Formby's®
Tung Oil finish were applied, offering protection and natural
hand-rubbed beauty to this treasured chest.
Turning the Table
This table was spotted at a yard sale and purchased at
a great price. A quick look at the unpainted surface under the table
revealed what the tacky paint was concealing
a fine quality
poplar wood. An application of Formby's®
Paint & Poly Remover easily lifted the multiple layers of
paint revealing the true beauty of this little bargain.
After cleaning the surface with Paint
& Poly Remover Wash three coats of Formby's®
Tung Oil were applied to the wood. This added a beautiful hand-rubbed
finish with durable protection.
